ON RECENT WORK - "Human emotion is contrasted with nature vs.
industrial surroundings. What effects our thought processes?
What do we yearn for? Is it nature's substenance and
beauty? Or is it materialistic and greed?" -Steven
Palmer
When I work with any art form I am assembling a creative
puzzle. I know from experience my limits and materials
I am best suited for.
I begin a piece by brainstorming through quick sketches and computer manipulation. I combine raw talent with traditional and technical skills. I create a bond that is effective in my work for a positive outcome. I know I'm in the right zone when I feel a sense of manifestation, a creative pleasure with which makes me feel satisfied. When my work is going well, I am filled with a sense of passion.
When a client or viewer can look at my work and see my vision, I am creatively satisfied and rewarded. I strive to use this theory in my teaching by applying solid methodologies. My students need to feel rewarded by their hard work - this will help them to achieve their goals. And when a student keeps me updated in their succes of their goals, I am filled with a sense of achievement.
